Show GALLS FOR MORE TROOPS Kuropatkln Wires to the Czar for the Sixth Army Corps. . 8T. -PETERSBURG, Sept 6. Emperor Em-peror Nicholas yesterday received a telegram from Cen. Kuropatkln asking ask-ing for th immediate dispatch to the far East of the Sixth army corps. Gen. Kuropatkln, tn a report dated Saturday, September S, 7 p. m says that the greater part of his army, Including In-cluding Gen. Stakelberg's force, which succeeded In rejoining the main force, ts now south of th Tental mines, about ten miles from Liao Tang. ' The troops which were left at liao Tang and the surrounding fortifications, fortifica-tions, to cover the retreat, crossed the Taltse river Saturday and occupied the right bank of the river.- The report says that after the decisive de-cisive engagement "between the armies of .Gens.. Kuropatkln and Kurokl large I numbers of . Japanese, perfectly concealed con-cealed in the Chinese corn and grass, stealthily crept up on the retreating Russians and Inflicted heavy losses. These same tactics had previously been adopted, with terrible results. MaJ.-Gen. Orloffs mixed detachment was assailed in the midst of the grass with a completely unexpected fire. A panic ensued, and one regiment alone lost from 1600 men. half of its total strength. Russian losses before Liao Tang on September t, as officially computed, were 8200.- - |
