Show ROOSEVELT DENIES STORY STRENUOUSLY OYSTER BAT, N. Y Sept. 6.-After consultation with the President Secretary i Loeb gave out a typewritten statement 1 denying a story printed in the New York World to the effect that J. Pierpont Mor- ( gan has recently held conferences with Mr. Roosevelt concerning the campaign I It is remarkable for the extraordinarily! emphatic language employed to eoavey th. President's denial of the story. It la as I follows: , . "The story about the visit of Mr. Morgan Mor-gan to the President at Oyster Bay is a lie from- beginning -to end. Neither Mr. Morgan nor the New York representative of Mr. Morgan has seen the President or i communicated with him directly or Indl- ' rectly at Oyster Bay or anywhere else. T As far as ths President or anyone around him knows, Mr. Morgan has been no- I -where near Oyster Bay in a yacht or oth- ' erwlse." . The word "lie" does not bften figure in statements given out for the President. It Is peculiarly strenuous and usually is shunned in diplomatic circles at Washington, Wash-ington, but this has been a very sultry 'day on Sagamore HUL: |
