Show PROSECUTE PRES. SMITH The Rev. D. A. Brown Demands De-mands That Law Be Enforced. The Rev. D. A. Brown, at the First Baptist church last night, declared that it was the duty of all residents of Utah to see that President Joseph F. Smith was prosecuted on his return. He had by, his own confession shown that he : was violating the law, said the pastor, and added: "Unless the people of Utah take steps to have this offender punished as the law prescribes, they are, by their silence, si-lence, sanctioning his misdeeds." Mr. Brown declared that President Smith had become so inured to the sin he was committing in violating the marital mar-ital law. that he now believed his conduct con-duct to be right and Justifiable. The speaker also took exception' to Smith's statement that the people of Utah tacitly countenanced the practice of polygamy, and said that the Gentile population of this State was as strongly opposed to such practices as that of any other State In the country. . |
