Show I FORMER LOCAL DRUGGIST IS GIVEN HONORS A pioneer Bingham business man, W. H. Woodring, 71, now of 529 East Sixth South, Salt Lake City, Wednesday received the first life certificates in pharmacy, issued by the state department of registration and presented him by W. R. McEn-tire, McEn-tire, director of the department of registration, and Mrs. Reva B. Loomis, assistant. Mr. Woodring, owner of the Woodring building at 479 Main, received his first certificate in 1894 from the territory of Utah. He came to Utah from Elk City, Kansas, in 1893. His father was a physician and also operated a drug store. Young Woodring worked in Salt Lake City until 1903 when he opened his own business in Bingham. He operated a drug store here for 20 years, during which time he witnessed development of Utah Copper company's mine into one of the greatest proper-I proper-I ties on earth. Among his personal per-sonal friends he numbered fam-I fam-I ous mining men . 3 Mr. Woodring recalls that his I was the first soda fountain in I Bingham. In 1923 he sold out and ij came to Salt Lake City to oper-i; oper-i; ate drug stores. Several years 1 ago he sold out. Becoming bored with leisure, he soon was back compounding prescriptions- At I present he is at the Richmond drug store, 511 West Second South, Salt Lake City. |
