It is not surprising that the returns show that the tuition plan for keeping the public schools open for the full term, las been overwhelmingly rejected . by the parents of falt .Lake. When this scheme was suggested by the school board, The Telegram warned the trustees that it was an impractical plan. But the board was determined and sent circular letters let-ters to the parents notifying .them that, tiey ha $ been assessed for tuition fees for their children. At this point The Telegram again warned the Board cf Education that tie tuition method was not only ra-just ra-just and discriminated against the children whose parents were tunable to pay the tuition fees, imt that the plan was illegal. It violated the cardinal principle prin-ciple of our schoor system -toose benefits must be shared by the rich and poor alike. The result of the returns prove conclusively, that the parents indorse The Telegram's stand. Twenty-five thousand dollars dol-lars was needed to complete the term, according to the school board. Of this .amount the iiitKra circulars cir-culars resulted in the assumed collection of only $7,349.50. This leaves the Board, of Education in a most hTimiliatmg posif ion.
