" , ' " 1 I .I I . l Ml l III -M PREACHER ARRESTED OH FORGERY CHARGE Pastor of Illinois Congregation Is Jailed on a Serious Complain t CARBONDALE, III., April 2L Rev. Charles XL Campbell, pastors of I the Christian church at Anna, 111., has been arrested at the request of the police of Marfhall, III., on a charge of forgery. The preacher was taken to the Clark county Jail. Campbell came to southern south-ern Illinois from California- and became be-came a railroad fireman. Campbell Is said to have a wife and a four-year-old daughter in the West. He became interested In religious work. Joined the Methodist church and became a preacher. Differences arose which caused him to leave that church and Join the Christiana. Last fall he was connected with the Illinois anti-saloon leagues, and with that .organization lie had trouble. He Is considered a forceful force-ful preacher, and built up the church at Anna during the three months' pastorate. |
