Show LAND OFFICE FOR PRICE Merchants of Utah Town " Working: Hard to Secure Se-cure Coveted Plum.- i Merchants of Price, Utah, are making ma-king a determined effort to have & land office established there during the period pe-riod of registratlpn for homestead entry en-try in the Uintah reservation. ;. D. R. McDonald, L. Lowensteln and R. O. Miller of Price arrived in Bait i Lake Wednesday morning, and will be joined here Wednesday evening by R. W. Crockett, editor of the Price Advocate, Advo-cate, and other business men. . The men here were busy today visiting' visit-ing' State officials and others interested and endeavoring to secure their aup-port aup-port in having a land office established at Price. An effort was made to see Gov. Wells Wednesday morning, but he was not in his office when called upon. Price is about forty miles from the reservation, and there is a stage line running direct from , the town. The men here claim that it Is the most direct di-rect route to the best lands to be thrown open, and that an office in Price will be a help to those wishing to register. reg-ister. "We will draw from much good surrounding sur-rounding territory," said Mr. McDonald. McDon-ald. "If Price gets the ,land office we will be the nearest point to the reservation reser-vation from Salt Lake, and it will be a good thing for both sides. I believe that we will be successful in getting the consent of the authorities, but If we do not it won't be for lack of trying." |
