Show lAHIIET ON 'CHANGE IS . , AMLXED-UP AFFAIR The market on the mining exchange tf;5 Wednesday, morning was about the most mixed up affair which has been recorded for Borne time. Some of the stocks dealt In went up and some went down. The general trend of the market, "however, was lower than usual, and the 'trading was weak and fitful. Apparently, Apparent-ly, It Is fatal to the price of a stock to declare a dividend, as both Grand Central Cen-tral and Victoria were much lower than Ufual. h- Daly-Judge "fell off from the high price which has prevailed for several days, and was to be had as low as $5-25, t although some was purchased at a slightly higher price. . The slump Is probably due to the amount of stock coming on the market on account of the rapid raise. Grand Central sold 'down to $3.15, In spite of the news of the approaching dividend and the stock was '. . in little demand. May Day Is again feeling feel-ing the attacks of the prominent bear, who has been hammering It for some weeks, and sold down to 22Hc, although It revived somewhat on the open board. Victoria was maintained at $2.20, but very little stock came out at that price, although It was freely offered at the close. New York showed the big ad- ' vance of the day, selling from the opening open-ing price of 25c to 27c, with a nice demand de-mand and heavy trading. Yankee Con. also- showed strength and was not to be had below 39c, while Butler-Liberal was Keady and slothful around 12c. The closing quotations 'follow: Hon In stock of the company which will be organized with the property as a basis. The deal wlU be completed, the company organized and incorporated and the cash paid over before the end of the year. The group consists of four claims located lo-cated In the vicinyy of the Pennsyl-vanla-Goldfleld company's property, and while no great amount of work has been done on the group It is understood that a nice ledge has been uncovered and that there is & nice showing near the surface. Of course the location of the property, lying as It does In the heart of the Goldfleld district. Is what makes the claims valuable at the pres. ent time, but It is understood that work will be begun on the property as soon as the company is organized. AMALGAMATED 2T0T BUY IITO UTAH COPPES. The frequently circulated rumor that Amalgamated interests are buying the stocks of the Utah copper mining com. panies with a view of making a big consolidation later on is not believed to have any basis In fact. The New York buying of Bingham, I hear on most excellent authority, has been for American Smelting and Refining Interests. Inter-ests. It is not Improbable that the big smelting company has a plan to get control of the Bingham, because of the fact that -the latter is running a very successful custom copper smelting business bus-iness In the Salt Lake valley. There Is no ground for the belief that either Amalgamated or American Smelting Is buying United States Mining stock. Walker's Weekly Copper Letter. FRISCO CONTACT. The work of development on the Frisco Contact company's property near the Horn Silver pf Frisco has proven so satisfactory sat-isfactory that the management of the company has decided to equip the property prop-erty more thoroughly In order that a greater amount of work can be done. The management has decided to equip one shaft on the property with a first-class hoist, and when this la installed the shaft will then be made the general outlet for the workings, and aU development will be done through it. Mr. Rohlnng has not as yet decided which shaft to use. as there are several started on the property, but will make a further investigation on his return from the Coeur d'Alenes and decide de-cide on the location to be used. NEW MINING COMPANY. Articles of incorporation of the Sherman Sher-man Goldfleld Mines company were filed with the County Clerk Wednesday. The amount of capital stock is placed at $10,000, which is divided Into 10,000 shares at the par value of $1 each. Salt Lake is named as the principal place of business. The work on the big Peck concentration concentra-tion plant at the Horn Silver has been progressing steadily and the plant will without doubt be in a position to run when spring opens up. The entire plant, which is a monster one, is now covered In and the tanks have been put In place, as well as most of the machinery. All that is now being be-ing done at the plant is the installing of machinery, all of which has arrived on the ground. The management is using us-ing water from the Horn Silver mine and from a near-by well. The pipe line from the reservoir at Newhouse to yie mill has not as yet been started and It Is a sure thing that it will have to be completed before the Peck mill can run at anything like ca- I pacity, as there is not nearly enough I water to be had Irom the mine and well to supply the needs of such an immense im-mense plant as the new mill will be. $1,600,000 Gold Engaged. ' NEW YORK, Dec. 14. Goldman, Sachs & Co. have engaged $1,600,000 in gold coin for shipment to Germany tomorrow. to-morrow. ORE SHIPMENTS DELAYED. Joe S. Free, superintendent of the K. & F. property at Pioche, is up from camp for the holidays and reports the property in splendid shape. He states that connections with the ore bodies has been made through the long tunnel and that these ore bodies are continuous for 700 feet from the grass roots down. He is having trouble in getting teams to haul ore to the railroad and states that 1f a connection was had with the railroad rail-road the property would produce enormously, enor-mously, the tonnage being held down at "present to the very highest grade ores on account of the wagon haul. Child, Cole & Co., Brokers, '100 Atlas block. Both 'phones 323. t "NO INTERRUPTION TO THE WORK AT ALTA. Henry M.' Crowther, manager of the Oontinental-Alta, spent an anxjous . period Tuesday when the storm came . on. Mr. Crowther is most anxious to finish up the work on the mill and tram-, tram-, way before he is interrupted by the " . winter weather and the amount of sup-' sup-' plies now being hauled to the property might easily have been delayed long enough to materially hinder the com-- com-- pletion of the work. The cable for the tramway Is r.ow being hauled from Sandy to Alta, but the snowstorm was , j not severe enough to block the wagons. After the snow falls heavily and the road is broken no difficulty is encountered, encount-ered, but the change between sleighing l' weather and the first snow Is generally disastrous to the condition of the roads. The pipe-line is now being lajd at the rate of 000 feet of pipe per day and . within a week the mill will be entirely completed and ready to run. The mill Itself is practically complete and all the . machinery is in shape. The mechanics are doing a little adjusting on the machinery, ma-chinery, but the mill will be waiting on the pipe-line and tramway. The tow- , ers for the tram are for the most part erected, but the iron work will take the ben part of the week. Next week the management will begin be-gin to string cable and within the month .-. the tramway will be forwarding the product of the mine to the mill which will transform it into concentrates. anotheb gold field property; is sold. . The purchasers of this group are for the most part Salt Lakers, .although their Identity has not as yet been released. The terms of the-purchase provide for a portion of the price In cash and a por. GRAND CENTRAL DIVIDEND. Thursday the shareholders of the Grand Central of Tlntlc will draw , down the dividend of 5 cents a share, or $12,500. which was declared by the directors di-rectors at their meeting in Provo on Monday. ... The Grand Central ceased tho payment pay-ment of dividends some months ago for the purpose of using this money in development de-velopment work and of opening the mine to greater depth. The work contemplated con-templated has been computed, and last month the company resumed the payment pay-ment of dividends. The stock of the company has been unaccountably depressed for some months, and has not rallied on the resumption re-sumption of dividends, but this Is probably-due to the uncertainty of the decisions deci-sions In the cases between the Mammoth Mam-moth and the Grand Central. The decisions de-cisions in these cases are expected to be handed down this month. MINING 1TOTZS. Eyron E. Shear has returned from a visit to the Homestake mine at Silver Peak, Nev.
