Show NATIONAL AID IS ASKED FOR ROAD IMPROVEMENT Ml I ! II M t Resolutions Adopted bj the Convention at St Louis Raise Paramount Question. ST. LOUIS, April 29 At the last day'! session of the National and Internatlon-' al Good Roads convention, Hon. T. O. Harper of Burlington, la., chairman of the committee on resolutions, presented present-ed the report of that committee, which was adopted. The resolutions declare: ' First That the " building, of good roads-in the United States is now of paramount Importance to national prosperity and commercial supremacy. -"Second That we recommend the harmonious co-operation of the township, town-ship, county. State and National Governments Gov-ernments i in - the furtherance of this great end. "Third That the association believes that the appropriation heretofore made for the building qf railroads; canals and the improvement of the rivers and harbors, har-bors, has been wise and beneficent, but an appropriation for the improvement of our common highways has now become be-come necessary to extend the blessings of intelligence and to promote a high order of citizenship among ail classes of people and to meet the ever growing necessities of the agricultural interests. - "Fourth That we recommend the establishment es-tablishment .throughout the United States of . a. complete and perfect organization, or-ganization, from the Nation down to the township, which organizations shall overlap .each, other and make a complete com-plete national organization." |
