Show PEOPLE MUST NOT BURIt DEAD LEAVES Mounted Patrolman Taylor Is one of the busiest men on the police force during dur-ing these beautiful autumn days. He is scouring the city to find those persons who are violating a city ordinance ordi-nance by burning heaps of fallen leaves that encumber lawns, gardens, sidewalks side-walks and streets. An order has gone out from the Chief of Police Instructing mounted patrolmen patrol-men to round up all violators of the recently-passed ordinance. In compliance with the orders of the Chief, Patrolman Taylor has, within the last three days, notified more than 300 persons who were burning leave3 and rubbish, and ordered them to de- S Ail persons'who violate the ordinance hereafter will be arrested without further fur-ther notice from the Police department. The Council passed the ordinance in question upon the recommendation of the Board of Health, which in a communication com-munication to that body said that the pall of smoke caused by the burning of the dead foliage and other debris carried car-ried myriads of germs which aid greatly great-ly in the spread of various contagious diseases. |
