Show CHIEF LYNCH PROMISED! TO COVER PATROL WAGON Clubwomen who for more than a year have been urging the Police department to secure a cover for the police patrol wagon. In the Interest of public morals, are surprised by the statement of Chief William J. Lynch that a covered patrol wagon Is an impractical Innovation. Mrs. Hal "W. Brown, president of the Ladies' Literary club, and Mrs. W. A. Nelden, prominent In women's clubs In Salt Lake, called at the Police department depart-ment more than a year ago to urge that the wagon be covered. They were assured as-sured that the' cover was already ordered, or-dered, and that the money to be used for Its purchase had been appropriated. They were further told that as soon as a proper place was ready, where the wagon could be stored, that it would be so fitted. Mrs. Nelden says that she and Mrs. Brown were told that the matter would be attended to in a short time. They were acting as a committee representing represent-ing sections of the Ladles' Literary club. A short time ago th secretary of the Ladles' Literary club again called the attention of the department ot the matter mat-ter in a letter. The reply received from the department was as follows: "Salt Lake City, Oct. 26, 1904. Miss Linda B. Jessup, Secretary Ladles' Literary Lit-erary Club Dear Miss: In reply to yours of the 19th ir.st., in relation to cover for patrol wagon, I desire to inform in-form you that as soon as the new quarters, now in course of construction, are completed, the cover will be put in use.
