The xeasants in the Cherson province prov-ince of Russia have an extraordinary hellef that the Czar has only one ear. They are confirmed in their belief by pictures and photographs of the Czar thowing a side face view and naturally exhibiting only one ear. They account for the ebsence of the other in the following manner: A long time ago, they say, a deputation deputa-tion from their province waited upon the Czar, and in the course of the meeting the Czar is said to have stated that all Russian land would be divided equally among the peasants of the various vari-ous districts.
