Show TALKS TO WORKERS Chamberlain Tells Them Tariff Reform Will Rc- main a Vital Issue. LONDON.Dec a Joseph Chamber lain addressed a meeting of London East Enters last night. C. A. Pearson, the well-'-vown newspaper proprietor, presided. The hall was filled to overflowing, over-flowing, and an immense gathering outside showed a disposition to create a hostile demonstration of the unemployed, unem-ployed, who paraded in front of the building and greeted Mr. Chamberlain on his arrival with groans. This waa offset by the reception in the interior of the building. Mr. Chamberlain, who was greeted with cheering lasting several minutes, devoted his speech largely to a discussion discus-sion of. the fiscal question. While not advancing any new proposition regarding regard-ing the main issue, he adapted his utterances ut-terances more particularly to the working work-ing classes than in any of his former speeches. In concluding, Mr. Chamberlain said that, whether the Liberal party was victorious or not at the next election, which could not come too soon for him, the question of tariff reform would remain re-main a vital Issue. |
