Show HEYBURN WORKING IN BEHALF OF IFFT WASHINGTON, Jan. 20.-Senator Hey-tm Hey-tm had an eytindM int:rview thN morning with the Secretary of State In regard to the appointment of George N. Ifft of Pocatello to a Consular position, but. as there is no available vacancy at this time, no definite assurance was received. re-ceived. It is possible, however, that a place will be found for Mr. Ifft early in the summer, as it is understood that the President will, after his inauguration, make a number of changes In the Consular Con-sular service. Mr. Ifft Is strongly recommended rec-ommended by a large number of leading citizens of the State of Idaho. The Senator also took tip with the See-i See-i retary of the Navy the claim of Lieut. John Pettingill of Boise, Ida., for reimbursement reim-bursement in the sum of 3748. which amount he gave to a mail orderly to send a cablegram by direction of the Ad-miral-in-charge while in the Orient, nd with which the mall orderly absconded. The Senator has Introduced a bill for the relief of Lieut. Pettingill. and the object of his call upon the Secretary was to have him make a favorable report to the Committee on Naval Affairs In the Sen-, ate, which has the bill In charge. |
