Show NO BLAME IS ATTACHED Investigation of Street Car Accident In Which Farrell Was Hurt. The officials of the Consolidated Railway Rail-way and Power company concluded a searching investigation of the facts concerning con-cerning the street car collision which occurred Saturday morning on South Temple street near the Alta club. In which Motorman Walter C. Farrell was perhaps fatally Injured. The Investigation Investiga-tion was conducted by Claim Agent J. A. Brown and all the employees of the company who were on the cars and all the passengers were examined by him. In his report to Assistant Superintendent Superin-tendent O. P. Arnold, Jr., Mr. Brown states that no blame can be attached to Motorman Farrell, who was Injured so j seriously, to Motorman A. E. Davis, I wso Jumped from one of the cars, or to Conductors R. E. Hanks and T. W. Palmer. Pal-mer. The statements of all the passengers verify those of the car crews and attribute at-tribute the accident to the dense fog which prevailed. The fog was so exceedingly dense that the cars could not be seen at a distance of sixty feet. When the cars were approaching ap-proaching at a moderate rate of speed they could not have been stopped within with-in that distance. The cars were .traveling at a low rate of speed and each motorman was ou the alert to see the other car. No blame can be attached to Motor-man Motor-man Davis, who Jumped from his car after reversing it. Davis is an old-time railroad engineer, and after reversing his car he stepped off, Intending to Jump back on as it backed out of danger, dan-ger, and keep it under control. The operation which was performed on Motorman Farrell at the Holy Cross hospital relieved him of the pressure on the brain, and he had several intervals of lucidity yesterday. He was unconscious, uncon-scious, however, today. The physicians who are attending him say that he has a bare chance of recovery. Farrell. who has been In the employ of the company for ten years, was considered con-sidered one of the most careful men In the service. |
