Show CENSURE IS PROPOSED Move Made Against War Secretary Brodrick in . English Parliament. LONDON. Feb. 23. The criticism of the' British War office culminated in the House of Commons today in a motion for a vote of censure against War Secretary Sec-retary Brodrick. The motion was Identical with an amendment moved by Sir Henry Camp-bell-Bannerman, the Liberal leader, i when Mr. Brodrick Introduced his army reform scheme in 1901. Today, however, the vote of censure was proposed by Mr. Beckett, an influential Conservative, Conserva-tive, who was supported by a considerable consider-able section of revolting Unionists. In introducing the motion Mr. Beckett declared de-clared that Mr. Brodrick has deplorably deplor-ably neglected the greatest opportunity ever given to a minister, and had produced pro-duced a scheme which was not only unsound un-sound in principle but was ruinous in practice and enormously costly. The fears that the Government might be defeated on the Brodrick amendment amend-ment were made the most of earlier in the day by the bears, who apparently influenced the sharp relapse which occurred oc-curred on the stock exchange. |
