Giovanni Bancle, who caused th arrest of five Italian and charged them with trying; to extort money from him to defend the prisoners in the murder of Benedetto Madonia, has appealed to a magistrate for permission to carry a revolver. He seemed to b almost distracted with fright and begged the coveted permla. eion. - lie told the court that strange Italians Ital-ians had called at his house and threat-ened threat-ened that unless he withdrew the charge against the men arrested, he would be killed as Madonia had been, exoept that he would first be subjected to horrible torture.
