Show SPEEDING TO SLLOUIS BLOOM I NGTON, El., April 23. Lieut. -Gov. John A. Lee, who has been a fugitive from the St. Louis and Cole county. Mo., grand Juries for the past week, is speeding toward St Louis. He is going back to tell what he knows about the distribution of boodle In connection with the anti-alum baking bak-ing powder legislation. He left Chicago at 9 o'clock this morning on the Chicago Chi-cago & Alton and is due to arrive in St. Louis at 6:12 o'clock this evening. In reply to questions, Lleut-Gov. Lee Is quoted as saying: "I am feeling much better now than when I went away. At no time did I intend to remain away more than a week; no threat has brought me back. I am confident that when all the facts are known I will be-placed in a better light, I have been more sinned against than sinning." |
