S.-John Gamm, an ex-Union soldier . living in Gretna, is preparing to file a claim for a supplemental reward for assisting in the capture 'of Jefferson Davis. . There still remains in the ' United States treasury an unexpended appropriation appro-priation of 11503.38 for this purpose, and Mr. Gamm, who has already received one payment for his aervlces, believes the money Is rightfully his. He has prepared his army record papers and will file them. He has all the credentials necessary for complete iJentlflcation. . They are duplicates, for the originals were destroyed de-stroyed in a fire on a boat in the Tennessee Ten-nessee river some years ago. Mr. Gamm's certificates, of service show that during the Civil .war he served in the Infantry and cavalry. On October 1, 1862, be enlisted in company C, First Ohio cavalry. ' as second sergeant, ser-geant, and served in that capacity until un-til September . 13, . 165, when he was mustered out at Hilton Head, S. C. He was with the party which captured cap-tured President Davis on May 10, 186S. which party was commanded by Capt. Yeoman of the Flrst.Ohlo cavalry. |
