Show GLEE CLUStUDEIfTS HAD WMOV ESCAPE The University of Colorado Mandolin and Glee club reached Salt Lake yesterday yester-day and established themselves at, the Kenyon. The young men are all congratulating themselves on having ; reached, here safely, which they say is entirely due to the fact that their train was two hours and a half late in getting away from Cheyenne. ' This delay they believe saved their train from being struck by a freight that collided near Granger, -Wyo., with another freight train that was running on their time. They, did not know how near they came to landing in the hospital Instead of Salt Lake until they reached - the point where the trains had collided, and there they saw the locomotives piled In a heap, all twisted and demolished;, oh one side of the track,' and on the other side the two trains, still burning: At Cheyenne they had grown lmpU tient at the delay and expressed various uncomplimentary Opinions of the railroad rail-road officials, but on 'arriving here, someone proposed a vote of thanks be sent to the officials to whom 'they addressed ad-dressed the Questionable compliments. There arc twenty-six young men in the club out on a pleasure trip. 'They are giving entertainments to meet their traveling expenses. They gave an entertainment en-tertainment to the students of 'the L. D. S. U. this morning and at noon entertained en-tertained the U. of U. students. This evening they will give a public entertainment enter-tainment at Barratt hall, under the auspices of the two institutions.' |
