Show KINGSTON VOLCANO THREATENS -DANGER La Souriere Covers the Island of St. Vincent With a Dark Pall of Smoke. KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent, March 23. The eruption of La Soufriere, which began Saturday, continued and increased in-creased In activity during the night and became most violent at 7 o'clock last evening. r- At" 8:80 a. m. yesterday its violence vio-lence was unabated and was awe-in-pirlng. The crater is belching forth dense black clouds, which rise heavenward heaven-ward accompanied by loud roaring and flashes of flame, which rend the spreading spread-ing pall of Bmoke that now envelops the entire island In darkness. Electrical discharges occurred at intervals in-tervals -during the night, while at daybreak day-break the sunlght playing upon the stupendous volcanic cloud? produced exceedingly beautiful effects. Relying upon the scientific opinion that Kingstown, although covered with Jreavy clouds .which completely obscure ie sun, is not In danger, the poputa-V3h poputa-V3h shows no alarm.
