The special gTand Jury convened at 10 o'clock this mornlngr and held a secret se-cret session for about thirty minutes. Attorney Wlllard Hanson was the first witness called and was detained for some time. It Is believed that his testimony was lii connection with the Luke collection agency, as he is reported re-ported to have tried some cases for the firm. r . , ' . Frey Lyngberg, groceryman, also ap-peared ap-peared before the Jury this morning. Lyngberg was before the grand Jury about twelve years ago when the crusade cru-sade against polygamists was begun. Miss Unger, who resides at 377 P street, was also present this morning. She was a clerk for former Justice Gustav Kroeger and is reported to have taken care of the records of his court for nearly three months. Her testimony testi-mony is said to be relative to the books of the agency. Former Justice of the Peace Gustav Kroeger appeared voluntarily before the grand Jury yesterday afternoon and was detained about three hours. Justice Kroeger is alleged to have transacted a large amount of the .business .busi-ness of Luke brothers' collection agency in hi court. He catne down from Boise City, Ida voluntarily to testify In regard to the methods used by the agency in collecting money. He entered a flat denial of the charges made in a local paper. . |
