Show HARRIMAN WILL HOLD NO STOCK IN CLARK ROAD Deal for Short Line Will Be Spot Cash, With No Alliances That Can Harm Salt Lake. Senator Clark has put at rest forever all doubts concerning the ownership of the San Pedro. Los Angeles & Salt Lake railroad as far at least as Mr. Harrl-raan Harrl-raan or any of his companies are concerned, con-cerned, by announcing publicly that Harriman or the Short Line will not own or control a single share of the stock of the Clark system. . Contrary to the belief of the public, the deal whereby Senator Clark pur-J chased from the Short Line for the Salt , Lake road the Short Line property south of this city, was negotiated on a spot cash basid. , . There will be no exchange of the stock of the two -roads. That would give Harriman an interest in the new road which It is reasonable to suppose would be a controlling one. The transfer will be a cash transaction transac-tion and -wnen it. is-completed Harriman Harri-man will .have conveyed to the Salt Lake route all his right, title and Interest In-terest in and to the property which enters en-ters Into the deal. Senator Clark will hand the Oregon Ore-gon Short Line a check, drawn on himself, him-self, for the full amount of the purchase pur-chase price and will receive In return a bill of sale accompanied with an inventory in-ventory of all trackage, equipment, real estate and agreements. Senator Clark also assures the public that there will positively be no traffic alliances with any -oad that might have a tendency to make the new road less valuable to Salt Lake. Freight and passenger business will be exchanged with Harriman of the Short Line and the Union Pacific and Gould of the Rio Grande and Missouri Pacific on equal terms. When Dave Moffat gets here with tbe Denver, Northwestern & Pacific, 6r when any other line comes in, the policy pol-icy of "treatment alike to all" will be found to be dominating the Salt Lake route. , |
