OCR Text NORE MONEY TO SPEED ARTISTS There were doings at the meeting of the bicycle Vlders at the track last eren- - lng. The riders asked Manager J. M. n Chapman for additional prize money and J got It, and a riders' relief fund, for riders rid-ers w ho are injured, was arranged for. Manager Chapman raised- the prise money from $316 a meet to $325 a meet, . which is more than has ever been given at the track before. He told the riders that he would -also increase the amount of prize money as soon as the crowds -would warrant it-- . The bicyclists arranged that the wln- - ners of all first, second and third prices rhould give up 2 per cent of their money for the purpose of taking care of riders who are injured and unable to tide for several mcctt'. A good programme has been arranged for this evening. Williams and Fogler will compete in an Australian pursuit ' race and Jack Hume and Fred West, the two star amateurs, will contest In a half-mile half-mile race, French style, best two out of three heats. 'There will also be a three-mile three-mile lap race, professional, and a quarter-mile open, professional. A one-mUe handicap amateur will also be given. Floyd McFarland is out after W. E. . Samuelson's scalp. The former declares that Bamuelson has complained that McFarland Mc-Farland and Lawson were teaming to prevent his winning. "Mack" declares that he will bet Samuelson two to one on a match race at any time, the winner to take all the stakes.
