Show PRIZES AWARDED IN ART EXHIBITION Mahonri M. Young, the local artist, who has won so much praise for his work, was awarded the $300 cash prize for his oil painting, "The Blacksmiths," Black-smiths," by the judges of the Utah Art Institute. It is a strong work and will become the property of the institute upon the payment of the prize. Lee Greene Bichards received the honor medal for his "The Man in the Cloak," oil, and an extra strong study in portraiture. J. T. JIarwood was given a $50 cash prize for "The Lake at Liberty Lib-erty Park," a small panel nine by twelve inches, rich in color and scope. A plaster cast, life size, of "Miss 6.," by Mahonri Young, won the $25 prize for the sculpture work. This is a likeness of Miss Cecelia Sharp, and won the admiration of the many visitors at the exhibit. Charles Caine was awarded the $10 prize for woodwork. Miss Edith Cummings $10 for her collection of china paintings. . Miss May Merrill awarded $10 prize for hand-made laces, and the pupils of the training school honorable mention j for their work in pottery making. |
