Show ALLEGED WIPE SLAYER'S TRIAL Dr. Brouwer Accused' of Giving Wife Arsenic and Ground Glass, Arraigned in New Jersey Court. TOM'S RIVER,' N.'J, Oct. 8. The trial of Dr. Frank Brouwer, charged with the murder of his wife, was on the court calendar beer today. Mrs. Brouwer diedl in . September, 1905, after an. illness that was diagnosed diag-nosed at first by her husband as cholera morbus. Dr. H. M. Catp signed a death certificate setting forth that Mrs."Brou-wer Mrs."Brou-wer died of Bright 'a disease. Soon after the funeral rumors began to spread that there was something suspicious sus-picious about Mrs. Brouwer 's death. There had. been quarrels between the couple over the administration of Mrs. Brouwer 's parents' estate. It also was rumored -that Mrs. Brouwer had been jealous ef one of. the doctor's women patients. . The digestive organs were removed and Dr. Uenth of the University of Pennsylvania is said to have reported that he found traces of "Arsenic and what was supposed to be ground glass in the stomach. Dr. Brouwer later . was indicted charged with the murder of hia wife and be was arrested. . . |
