Show 26,000 Heirs Turn Up At Prospect of Millions The largest number of "heirs" to an American fortune turned up In Philadelphia in 1935 at the proceedings pro-ceedings to determine the rightful owners of $25,000,000 which had been left unwilled by a Mrs. Henrietta Hen-rietta Garrett, says Collier's. Although this wealthy widow had lived alone without communicating commu-nicating with a friend or relative for 35 years before her death in 1930, more than 26,000 alleged relatives rel-atives from 48 states and 27 foreign for-eign countries claimed a share of her estate. But so far, no one has received a cent. |
