Show Sports Here and There by Al Ablett What a celebration! Bingham was Bingham believe me. Sure feel sorry for those that missed it- On Friday Bingham high school met Wasatch high of Weber We-ber and when the dust cleared away, Bingham was on the long end of a 46 to 0 score. Sandy has a team this year that looks big and rugged. Not too much speed, but plenty of power through the middle. He is busy developing a passer so that the defense can't bunch up on him, and if he finds a boy that can hit the bulls eye the Miners this year will be hard to stop. By next week we will be able to give you a much better bet-ter picture as they are to play another game and by that time the starting team will have taken ta-ken shape-On shape-On Saturday the Bingham boys met Kearns in a baseball game and believe it or not came out on the long end of a 11 to 9 count. Oliver pitched for the locals and in the first inning Big Jack Graham of Kearns hit the first of his two home runs with two men on, and it looked like Sam was in for a rough afternoon but then he started to serve up the stuff that he used so successfully for Gemmell club and the only time he got in trouble again was I when Graham hit his second I home run. Young Bailey Santis-tevan Santis-tevan pitched the last two innings inn-ings and got by in fine shape. Bailey pulled the string on Graham Gra-ham to strike him out the only time the big first baseman faced him. We used several of the boys off of the championship American Ameri-can Legion team, and they handled hand-led themselves like veterans. George Dimas played second and Billy Boren left field. Victor Ro-blez Ro-blez caught. These boys would help any team. Big Clarence j "Hooks" Iott pitched the last inning for Kearns and struck out the side. He was blazing fast. Ray Alves, Herb Babcoek, Frank ! Zaccaria, George Shiga, Henry j Marks and Darrell Robertson, j besides the boys already mentioned mention-ed made up the local team and all gave a good account of themselves. them-selves. Henry hit those pitchers ! I just like he had paid their board all year- Both teams had a good time and the Kearns fellows are still raving about the swell people peo-ple of Bingham. Next week I will take up the Bingham football team. By that time I should be over Galena I Days. But wasn't it fun? AL |
