Show COYOTES ON EXHIBITION Six Whelps Can Be Seen in Case on Market Row. Five animated little balls of brown fur are on exhibition In a cage at Will L. Price's store on Market Row, West Temple and First South streets. They are coyote whelps, that were born at Price's poultry yard park six- weeks ag. The mother Is a domesticated coyote, which has been reared by the men In charge of the park. The mother Is as tame as an ordinary dog, and will eat from the hand. She has been taught a number of interesting interest-ing tricks, not the least Interesting of which Is to ring a bell by pulling a string at the door when she desires to enter the farmhouse. The practical part of her education has not been neglected, for she has on several occasions frightened away unscrupulous un-scrupulous persons who have endeavored endeav-ored to steal chickens from the pens in the park. She does not bark like a .watch dog. Her method of protection is far more effective. She steals behind the trespasser so quietly that her presence pres-ence is not observed, and then nips him In the calf of the leg. The- dam is about 3 years old and has been in captivity since she was 2 months old. |
