Show LOOKS BAD FOR MORAN Contracts Aggregating All of $75,000 Hanging in tbe Balance. Unless the courts interfere. Contractor P. J. Moran will probably lose sewer contracts con-tracts amounting to about $75,000. This is following a ruling made by City Attorney C. C. De.y In the matter of watermaln extensions ex-tensions to the effect that when the condition con-dition of payment is performed on orders for worlcMhen the work will go to the contractor whose contract covers such work at such time. The Board of Public Works yesterday sent a letter to P. P. Ford, who has the contracts for furnishing water and sewer prpes this year, concerning the sewer extensions. ex-tensions. The letter stated In effect that the board had been Informed that Contractor Ford would be willing to go ahead with the laying of sewers, notwithstanding the required re-quired one-third had not been paid into the citv treasury, and that he would hold the city liable only for due diligence in collecting the amounts of the assessments. With this understanding, the board ordered or-dered Contractor Ford to proceed to do all of the spwer extensions that have been passed on by the City Council. It is. not known what action Ford will take In the matter, and it is not believed that Moran will relinquish the contracts without a fight in the courts. |
