"Billy" Bowles, lias written from Australia saying that the Salt Lake's world's champion is getting get-ting his share f the good money over there. Bowles' letter regarding Champion Lawson Is as follows: "I think my last letter was from Syd- i ney. Lkwson was In great form at the j Sydney meeting; won nearly every race, ) nd beat Ellegard In a match race on the last night. He also won the summer wheel race (handicap) from scratch, rid- '' rng on hia pat (unassisted.) Fifty pounds ,' first money. ..... "Both Iver and McFarland had bad luck 'at the A. N. A. meeting- in Melbourne. McFarland fell twice and could not ride again. Laweon had .a bad fall the same . right, breaking one of his fingers and scratrhing his face, and was put out of it for fh rest of the meeting. They rode here (Adelaide) February 4, i but their injuries prevented them from doing any good. They both qualified, how- ( ever, for the big handicap which is to be run next 84turday, and they should win 1 , It. as both are recovering from their falls ' In good shape. "From here we go back to Melbourne. ' and Lawson .will meet Ellegard and Rutt in a series of match races to be run the i latter part of February. From Melbourne we go to Svdney for the big Sydney thousand, thou-sand, which is to be run in March, and the bur race looks, like a cinch for Law- ,1 son and McFarland". Give our regards to all the Salt Lake b6yn" |
