Show MUST fHR'JW OUT ALL TO SEAT PEABODY DENVER, Jan. SI. Ten ballot boxes were reported on by experts Monday in the Joint legislative committee hearing of the Peabody-Adams gubernatorial contest. The experts alleged that out of 3044 ballots bal-lots 723 were written by two or three persons. per-sons. The examinations of ballots in this county on behalf of Peabody has now been completed. 104 ballot boxes having been opened. The experts' reports showed that 29,141 votes were cast in these 104 precincts, of which. 19.161 were for Adams and 9311 for Peabody. The experts reported re-ported that 7&08 of these Democratic ballots bal-lots and -1220 Republican ballots were fraudulent, as they were written by from one to four persons. If the Legislature ahould take the original orig-inal petition of former Gov. Peabody and throw out the entire vote of all these precincts. pre-cincts. Peabody's plurality in the State would be "6. If the Legislature should de-4ugr de-4ugr the ballots alleged to be fraudulent from the good ones. Adams would still have a plurality of 21E6. Six more ballot boxes will be reported on today, four more Adams county and two from Conejos county. With tbit report the contestant will have finished his case before the committee. Wednesday Wednes-day afternoon the attorneys for the con-testee con-testee will begin to introduce evidence. |
