Show SERMON BY TELEPHONE Mother Heard Son Preach by Means of a Small Thonc. CHICAGO, April 17. The first "sermon "ser-mon by - telephone" ever preached in Chicago has enabled Mrs. Mary F. De. Blols, who is quite deaf, to follow every word of the first sermon she has heard in twenty-five years." The sermon was preached by her son, the Rev. Austen K.'De Blols, at the First Baptist church. Although he was ordained seven years ago, Mrs. De Blols never had heard her son's voice from the pulpit and her dearest wish was gratified. Seven other persons of impaired hearing also were able to understand un-derstand everything the. minister said. The eight persons shut off from the rest of the world by reason of their affliction af-fliction were connected with the pulpit by means of wires concealed under the carpet. By placing small receivers carrying car-rying almost invisible wires to their ears they were able to hear the sermon distinctly. i - |
