Show r MAJESTIC IS f SHUT DOWN ! I Work Suspended for Pres- cot in Beaver County's i Big Mine. -i . .' " i, 'I .(Special to The Telegram.) j . M1LFORD. Utah, March 4. This place j .. unusually dull. The Majestic proper- , -lies were all closed down tight on the . 22nd Inst.,' by orders from headquarters, ' -k , 'and were It not that the public have im- . pliclt confidence in the wisdom of Mr. Kewhouse, the new manaains director of the Majestic company, the future would be- most discouraging. The properties of X , the company were formally turned over - to Mr. Newliouse on the first day of Feb-T Feb-T ruary, but work - was- continued on the " $ O. K., Old Hickory and Harrington- , Hickory with a limited force until the nd, when everything was stopped, for - what reason, no ono h-'to knows, but ' doubtless, for somo purpowu wise if un- j' . derstood. If Mr. .'c;ionse has in fact .assumed the inuna&'-in'nt of this great, mining proposition, we all feel assured. v that something will be doing in the hlHs of Star, Rocky and Beaver Lake die-tr triets, and that, too, at no distant day. : The people here await with commendable J patience the resumption of 'an Industry 3! in which It is so tally interested. X The smelters have been put in condl- tion to be blown In at any time, but ' judging from present conditions on the - '' outsida they will not be used In the re-ductlon re-ductlon of ores for some time to come. . The resignation, last week of E. F. Freudenthai aa superintendent of the Majestio company came as a great sur- ' prise to his many friends, who regret . that other Interests made it necessary ;, to sever his connection with the com- ' K,. pany he hae served so ably In directing ' the development of its mines. He left , ' for Pioche, Nev., whither he goes to as- sist General Manager Mil liken In the final - examination of the properties of the ft . Utah-Nevada Mining company, situated .in LJncoln county, in which he Is largely ,i interested. In about ten days the parties 4- will make an examination of the com-a com-a pany's mining property, which Includes, among others, the Montreal. Imperial and Comet groups, properties which it is needless to say are recognized among the very best mines of Beaver county, capable .of Wonderful possibilities. It is now an assured fact that the Utah-' Utah-' Nevada company will begin the work of development on their most prominent properties in this county, at an early day,' the very anticipation of which brings j. Joy to the hearts of hundreds of people in Beaver county. i The -Beaver-Harrison company closed down for all time the other day. The necessity nec-essity for this action on the part of the company Is a matter of deep regret Their ' perseveranoe In the face of almost In- ; surmountable obstacles during the last three years was deserving of a better , fate. This company has spent over $330,000 and about all it has to show for it is a k . large flow of water in the 60(kfoot shaft. The company owns some good property, ' i but the trouble Is It did not do the work in the right place. The railroad la doing a large business at this place, and It ! hoped ere long to be able to note the fact that Milford has been selected as a division point. The sino plant at Frisco is making a , ; . ; trial run which la proving satisfactory In' every way. The great concentrating mill at New-Y New-Y house Is being put in commission and giv-. giv-. Ing evidence that when put to the full capacity results will be away and ahead . of any calculations heretofore made. - |
