It was announced today from the headquarters headquar-ters of the Japanese armies in Manchuria, Man-churia, that the fighting on the right, center and left is resulting in steady Japanese gains. The Japanese, it is added, have defeated the Bussians at Sinmintin. BULLETIN. ST. PETERSBURG, March 4, 5 p. m. The battle raging at the front has assumed enormous proportions. Already Al-ready one of the Associated Press Bussian correspondents places the Bussian losses at 30,000 men and those of the Japanese at 40,000. It is added that the attempt to draw a net around Gen. Kuropatkin has not yet succeeded, but it is stated that the Japanese from Sin Min Tin are attempting at-tempting by forced marches to cut the Bussian line of communications. TOKIO. March 4, 11 a. m. Aside from brief official announcements, the Army department remains uninformed of the trend of events In Manchuria. It is evident evi-dent that there is considerable activity along the entire front, which is roughly estimated to be ninety miles long, but It Is doubtful if any general action has yet been commenced. News Is expected here soon of a severe battle at Chut-plngtal, Chut-plngtal, where the Russians rallied after af-ter their defeat at Tslnkhetchen. It Is estimated that the Russian force there exceeds a division, with many guns.
