1 t Your Children By OLIVE ROBERTS BARTON Cornella Stratton Parker has written an n article called Take Your Children to Europe It is instructive entert entertAining and enlightening for perhaps it is the th only ony article of its kind ever written In it she states not only the reasons she and her husband had for taking a year old and a year old abroad to spend five formative years but describes the result of the experiment After an int interval of five years in AmerIca they returned to Europe this time with three children and spent five more years ears in foreign countrIes The children learned many languages for they obtaIned their education in German SwIss and French schools But better still they made mado friends with children of other nations other races other races other creeds than theIr own Now they are what Mrs l Parker calls They do not hesitate to mal make friends with anyone anone whom they like We Ve cannot take our children to Europe but the result of this courageous woman omans S experIment handed over for our judgment deserves serious The world is all one now There are no barriers of dIstance or communication If we are to have lastIng peace and progress chIldren must be taught not only natIonalism but internationalism as well They should not hear from their parents that such and such a a. family is queer or interior inferior merely because they have a different religion or nationality Of course the is not here We e cannot overcome our rac race or creed prejudIces overnight per per- haps But say what you will and put up any argument argument ment you like it is th the only real foundation for world peace and It is the only way wa- for real progress Our children have hae a rIght to to- tobe be tree free from the prejudIces of their ancestors and from our bur prejudIces NatIonal prejudice Is as elemental and a as ignorant as New England witchcraft Such a. a thing as s patriot patriot- mu must t not be lost ost sight of B But t there i Is a difference differ differ- ence nce b between rc real l patriotism and patriotic snober
