E L. L Dick Romney Skyline conference commissioner is a aman aman aman man who w will fight for the Sl Skyline officials to his last breath But he wants to make things better and has written a letter to coaches and athletic directors containing some matter for thought Dick has some good points For instance A fA really good and very popular official can be run out of the business if he works too many times before the same crowd The fact that the Mountain States conference plays a double roun round J robin schedule and does not permit sending officials across the mountain to work means that our officials appear appear- too many times limes before the same people Next year Dick points out Montana and New Mexico will be bc added to the thc le league gue and there will be just a single round robin He asks the question Shall w we try using an official from each side of the conference in our conference games 1 Unfavorable Favorable-Unfavorable Then he points out the favorable and unfavorable aspects of such a system Favorable 1 Psychological Everyone interested including spectators might feel that it is ig more fair to the players and the schools 2 The officials would not appear before the same crowds so many times 3 The officials would not be required to work for forthe forthe forthe the same team so many times 4 A Amore more uniform interpretation might grow out of such a system of or exchanging officials Unfavorable 1 Cost It wo would ld cost more than the present system but not v very ry much more The travel would be split between between between be be- tween two schools 2 The traveling official would work two nights straight for the same traveling tra team 3 It might prove difficult to find lind officials who could leave their regular work as much a as would be needed |
