Diphtheria cases have been increasing in-creasing in the state over a period per-iod of several months as pointed out previously in these reports. The 30 cases during this week brings the total for the year to 78 cases. However, it should be mentioned that 28 of the 30 cases this week are delayed reports going back as far as the week of 'Oct. 24. The great majority had the onset of their illness during I the month of November. In fact, 25 of the 30 cases occurred dur- j ing that month and three during the later part of October and two ' during the week ending Dec. 5. I It is interesting to note that 12 1 of the 30 cases were reported among Indians from Uintah county. All 30 cases this week were from three of the 29 counties coun-ties in the state, namely, Carbon, one, Tooele, one, and Uintah, 28. The following is a list of all J diseases reported during the week: chickenpox, 235; diphtheria, diphth-eria, 30; infantile paralysis, 4; influenza, 2; measles 2; German HEALTH NEWS Physicians and local health officers of-ficers reported a total of 343 cas- es of notifiable diseases to the .state department of health for the week ending December 5th. |
