Show PARISH BIDS FAREWELL TO FATHER FRANCIS At the BCO hall on Sunday, July 27, the Reverend Francis Grzechowiak, C R., assistant pastor of Holy Rosary parish for the past year, was tendered a farewell dinner by members of the parish. The following day, Father Francis, as he was familiarly fam-iliarly known to all Bingham, departed for the headquarters of his religious community in Chicago. Chi-cago. Approximately 150 persons enjoyed en-joyed the dinner at which Ross Pino, president of BCO, was toastmaster. John J. Creedon and Joseph P. Scussel, representing members of the parish, and Mrs. Ralph Murano, president of the B.C.O. Ladies' auxiliary, expressed ex-pressed the appreciation of the parishioners for the work accomplished accom-plished by Father Francis in the year he was in Bingham, where he was in charge of the Crusaders, Crusad-ers, the CY HI club and the choir. The Reverend Joseph I. Gosse-lin Gosse-lin of Magna, a former pastor of Holy Rosary church, and the Rev. James C. Coyne, editor of Catholic Register, spoke briefly and congratulated the guest of honor in being selected by his superiors to pursue higher studies stu-dies in Sacred Scripture in Rome. The Rev. Daniel E. Leahy, pastor of Holy Rosary church, lauded the spirit of cooperation and loyalty manifested by Father Francis and voiced the regrets of the entire parish and community commu-nity occasioned by his leaving. In his response, Father Francis thanked all present for their demonstration de-monstration of affection and attributed at-tributed whatever success that has attended his priestly labors "to the golden hearts of the people peo-ple of the community, the real treasure in Bingham Canyon." The singing of Auld Lang Syne, lead by Father Francis, and grace said by Father Leahy, brought the affair to a close. Prior to his journey to Rome Father Francis will visit his parents par-ents in Chicago. His successor will be announced next week by the Chancery office. O |
