Show BOY SCOUTS END WEEKjtf CAMP Last Sunday night, August 1, ended what scouting leaders termed the most successful week of camping ever sponsored by the Bingham Scout council. This year, camp was held at the Tracy Wigwam in Millcreek canyon, and under a very efficient effic-ient camp staff headed by La-Verne La-Verne Hansen of the Salt Lake council, the boys enjoyed a well rounded-out week of handicraft work, hiking, swimming, and general scouting knowledge. The week was climaxed Sunday Sun-day night by the annual swimming swim-ming meet, a court or honor, and the yearly picnic feast provided by Dr. and Mrs. Paul S. Richards. This year Dr. and Mrs. Richards served refreshments to eighty-two eighty-two scouts and one hundred fifty parents and friends. The Court of Honor, presided over by L. Fern Pett, was one of the largest ever held in camp. Badges ranging from tenderfoot to Life rank were presented to over forty lads. Mr. Hansen announced an-nounced that every boy from the Bingham district had earned the Wigwam medallion for achievement achieve-ment during the camping week. A well-balanced program of humorous sketches brought loud laughter and applause from the appreciative audience of parents and guests. The annual Inter-Troop Swimming Swim-ming Meet, won by Troop 112 of Copperfield, was one of the highlights high-lights of the evening. After many thrilling heats had been disposed dispos-ed of, the final results of the races were: 25-yard Free Style Rex Lea-therwood, Lea-therwood, troop 112 and Howard Otteson, troop 136, tied for first place; 3, L. These men handled all Court of Honor arrangements, food buying and distributing, and transportation for the camp. |
