Show YOUTHS CAUSE DAMAGE TO MINE SHAFT Three Copperfield youths, 14, 16 and 17 years old respectively, caused considerable damage to the Yosemite mine shaft of the United States Smelting Refining and Mining company near Lark Monday afternoon after workmen work-men had gone off shift, when they began operating the mine's hoist up and down the 1400-foot incline. Deputy Sheriff Jack Householder, House-holder, J. R. Mclntyre, chief of the U. S. mining company watchmen watch-men and B. J. Santistcvan, Jordan Jor-dan school district coordinator, took the three into custody Tuesday. Tues-day. Deputy Sheriff Householder Household-er states that no charge has been made against the boys, but in all probability they will be turned turn-ed over to juvenile authorities. The three boys were giving one another u ride up and down the 32 per cent incline when the skip jumped the track near the bottom. bot-tom. The amateur operator pulled pull-ed the derailed skip and tore out considerable track and timber. The rider of the ill-fated skip received only a slight bruise on his leg. Mr. Householder asks- parents to cooperate in warning their children that it is a dangerous practice as well as a hindrance to the war effort by letting them play around mining property, especially es-pecially when they do as much damage as was done at the Yosemite Yose-mite mine Monday. |
