Show UTAH COPPER CO. GETS NEW ARMY-NAVY ARMY-NAVY AWARD A white star was added Friday Fri-day to army-navy "E" flags at the Utah Copper company operations opera-tions at Magna and Bingham, signifying sig-nifying a second recognition for excellence in producing the badly-needed red metal for the war effort. The Copper company was the first Utah organization to receive the coveted award, and is the first to receive the secondary recognition re-cognition for continued achievement. achieve-ment. The local organization has been producing above rated capacity since six-months before Pearl Harbor. At the present time it is producing approximately one-third one-third of the nation's copper supply. sup-ply. Lapel Insignias have been presented pre-sented to 855 employees, who have been hired since the first presentation was made on September Sep-tember 17, 1942, and who were on the payroll June 19, 1943. The other employees had already received re-ceived their insignia. Other affiliates of the company receiving awards are Bingham and Garfield railway, Garfield improvement company and the Garfield water company. |
