Show BOARD CHAIRMAN INFORMS ON RATIONING ITEMS .'. The American. . people deserve high praise for; the way they have responded jo the announcement announce-ment of point rationing Francis J. Quinn, Chairman of the Bingham Bing-ham District War Price and Rationing Ra-tioning Board sid today. A national na-tional survey shows that consumers consum-ers and grocers fcave patriotically cooperated to ayoid hoarding of supplies which will be rationed under the point, system.- "The announcement imposed a serious responsibility on the public and on the food distributing distribut-ing trade," Mr. Quinn said. "On the basis of information collected, collect-ed, this responsibility was accepted ac-cepted in a most commendable manner. It has demonstrated that American citizens 'can and will exercise voluntary discipline when presented realistically with the facts behind' such actions as have been taken dn this instance." While there have been a few instances where Individual stores have reported heavier than ordinary or-dinary buying on the part of a few customers, these individuals have been discouraged by the store keeper and by pressure of opinion, .fiPaistoroers...;. -, In justifying the advanced official of-ficial announcement of the point ration program it is pointed out that it was necessary in order to avoid leaks of garbled misleading mislead-ing information that ' would inevitably in-evitably have resulted from the necessary preliminary discussion with the vast food industry and the training of a million and one-half one-half volunteers who will help in the registration. Attention of motorists and service station operators is called call-ed to several items in' the mileage mile-age rationing regulations. It is against the regulations for service ser-vice stations to sell gasoline to any vehicle which does not display dis-play on the windshield the appropriate ap-propriate A, B. 'C; or T sticker. In case of persons having supplemental sup-plemental mileage, only the B or C sticker should be displayed and not the A sticker. Service stations may not sell gasoline in exchange for ration stamps which are not properly identified.. All A, B, and C stamps, and T stamps issued to-the to-the owner of a .single commer- cial vehicle, must have the license number and the state of registration regis-tration written in ink on 'the gummed side- T coupons issued to fleet operators must be identified iden-tified by writing the Certificate of War Necessity number or the fleet number in ink on the gummed gum-med side. Coupons for. bulk E and R rations must have the name and address of the person to whom they were issued writ-, ten in ink on the back. Consumers, of - coffee are reminded that stamp No. 28 is now valid for one pound of coffee for the five-week period per-iod ending February 7. Ii is pointed out also that all coffee cof-fee on . hand when rationing began in excess, of one pound per adult must be declared when apDlicatlon is made for War Ration Book No. 2 and one stamp will be removed for each . pound of excess . coffee. All coffee stamps in books of children listed as being under fifteen must be surrendered at thai time also. - |
