Show Franklin Observes Anniversary Date FRANKLIN June 15 This little littletown littletown town of less than 1000 population was celebrating toda today in honor of Idaho day the founding of Franklin which was the t first organized settlement in Idaho The Thc town was opened to settlement on June 15 1860 when a group of pioneers moving slowly northward from rom Cache valley camped on Lookout Lookout Lookout Look Look- out mountain west of the city coming coming com com- ing to the present site of the thc town the next day Governor C C. Ben Ross of Idaho was the thc principal speaker at a patriotic meeting which was held during durin the morning In the afternoon a large program of sports was enjoyed by the many people coming from northern Utah and southern Idaho to attend the celebration |
