OCR Text	Show u LABOR GROUP HITS FEDERAL PAY CUTS WASHINGTON April 12 tf JP-Arl JP Art early showdown on federal pay cuts was assured today as a new protest came from the American Federation of Labor characterizing such a step stepas as one presaging a breakdown in the tha American standard of living At about the same time President Hoover called the special house economy econ omy committee to meet with him again tomorrow to discuss further the general economy program by it is hoped the government will save more than in the next fiscal year The house rules committee agreed for the economy group to bring its wage cut proposal to the floor during consideration of the legislative supply bill which carries congressional sala sala- ries The Federation of Labor protest was made in a formal statement by William Green its president saying a federal wage slash would be followed fol lowed by one by industry
