Show UNION APPROVES WOMEN WORKERS At the golden jubilee annual convention of the International Union of Mine, Mill and Smelter Workers held last week in Butte, Mont., . delegates adopted a resolution reso-lution giving full consent to employment em-ployment of women in mills, smelter$ and even underground during the present critical man power shortage. J. Frank Marble, president-secretary president-secretary of district union No. 2 and delegate at the convention, says that it is his belief that local unions of Utah will vote to extend ex-tend seniority rights to women workers for. the duration. It is doubtful that women will work underground, since Utah state law forbids this practice and had to be amended o permit their employment in smelters and mills. ' Other resolutions adopted at I the meeting include the reap-proval reap-proval of a pledge outlawing strikes for- the duration and the adoption of a resolution calling for regular purchases of war bonds and support of United War Fund appeals. |
