Show U. S. Air Attacks Limited To Target Bombing The basic policy of the United Army Air Force has not been changed, declares Secretary of War Henry L. Stimson, who says that our efforts are "still confined to the attack of enemy military objectives." Some confusion seems to have arisen form the interpretation placed upon remarks by a briefing brief-ing officer which led to reports that the Allies had decided to inflict in-flict terror-bombing on the German Ger-man civilian population. Mr. Stimson, after investigation says that the mistake arose "through an inexcusable but incorrect in-correct interpretation" of the briefing officer's remarks. The dispatch to which Mr. Stimson referred re-ferred was carried by The Associated Associ-ated Press on Feb. 11th but was not published by some important newspapers whose correspondents, after investigation, cabled that terror-bombing had not been adopted adop-ted and that target-bombing was continuing. |
