Show IMMIGRANTS The first group of immigrants to enter the United States under President Truman's directive issued is-sued on Dec. 22, 1945, recently arrived ar-rived in New York. There were 867 passengers, 795 of whom were aliens entering under quota visas issued by six Federal agencies operating op-erating in this country and in Europe. Eu-rope. The other 72 passengers were United States citizens, most of whom were repatriated after having been stranded in enemy-occupied enemy-occupied zones during the war. |
