Show UTAH DRAFTEES MAY REGISTER AWAY FROM HOME Utahns between 18 and 25 years of age who are required to sign up for selective service starting Aug. 30 may register away from their homes, if they happen to be out of town on the days set for their enrollment, Brig. Gen. J. Wallace West, state director announced an-nounced Friday The director said his office had been flooded with inquiries as to whether a man had to enroll with his home board. He explained that all Utahns should be certain that he gives his permanent address, so his record will be sent to his home board. Meanwhile procurement officers from seven states had completed their two-day conference at Fort Douglas. The group, meeting with Lt. Col. Wayne F. Carbifl, Utah procurement and personnel head Htudied civilian pay rolls, budget estimates and accounting on Friday. Fri-day. They discussed operating policies, appointments, and disbursing dis-bursing and maintenance programs pro-grams Thursday. The boards' offices will be open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. throughout through-out the registration period, with all male persons other than those excepted in the selective service act, being required to register. Gen West said that persons hospitalized or ill at their homes should arrange to notify their board chairmen so registrars may go to their bedsides. |
