Show ON THE JOB Its always a nice gesture to give credit where credit is due and once in a wkile give a pat on the back for something some-thing well done. And so today we compliment the city officials of-ficials for the several fine projects which they have initialed as pari of a long range city planning program and for the line work which they have already completed. Realizing that foresight and long range planning are essential if we are to meet advantageously the new conditions condi-tions and increasing population, our city heads are doing the things which should be done to encourage more people to live in Springville. Heading the list of projects providing for the future development of our city is the new water development system sys-tem in Hobble Creek canyon. When this job is completed there will be sufficient water to supply a city five times as large as the present population of Springville and the water which Springville has, cannot be excelled. When the project is completed, it will have cost a lot of money but its worth a lot to any city to have a plentiful supply of good water and, completing the project under present pre-sent plans will prove economical in the long run. And in connection with the water project, the city will also improve and increase the electrical power service by Construction of more power tmits, which is also a much needed investment. y Another project which shows the foresightedness of our city leaders is the provision being made for recreational areas in this vicinity. The development of Kelly's Orove as a recreation area is an example of planning for the present and the future. The hundreds of people who have already taken advantage of the facilities offered at the Grove is proof that such an area is a necessity and is appreciated by the townspeople. City officials recently adopted a zoning ordinance as part of a long range planning program through which more uniform development of the city will be accomplished. A well planned and uniformally developed city is a major attraction for people looking for a place to build a home. In looking to the future, welfare of the people of Springville, city officials have recently adopted a health and food inspection ordinance which will work for the best good of all concerned. In addition to the many projects planned and on which work is progressing, city officials have directed completion of numerous smaller improvement projects including repairs to the electric light system, roads and irrigation system. They have initiated a garbage collection system and have had garbage collection containers installed on Main street to improve im-prove the appearance of the street. City officials are currently working on modernization of city ordinances, a job which has needed attention for some time. 1 here have been many other worthwhile projects started start-ed and many completed, all pointing to the ability and concerted con-certed effort which has been put forth by leaders to improve the standards of our city. |
